Some pointers on how I operate to save us all some time
If I give you my time, help you or intro you - keep me posted on development. You have a shot to make me an evangelist. Use it.
Honesty and candor always. I will tell you the truth, it is up to you if you’re offended. Do me the same courtesy.
If you cancel a meeting I am rsvp’d to - tell me. Insanely immature and rude to not do this. I cannot believe I have to say this.
Empathy is my biggest strength. I will fight tooth and nail to put myself in your shoes, and what comes with that is radical psychological safety. Use it. If a 45 minute call could have been a 15 minute call because you were bikeshedding around a hard issue - let’s never do that again.
If there’s a big problem you’re trying to explain to me, try and MECE it. Give me the digestible pieces, it will save us both so much time.
Projects are not like stories, they are like buildings. If you’re trying to build a plan and need me involved it shouldn’t be written as beginning, middle, dramatic event, end. It should be broken down into the key parts which can be delegated.
If you're raising money and you are looking for me to invest - start any email/call with that. Raising money shouldn't be an unspoken thing.
If we are working together on a project and you are expecting something from me. Remind me, don't be coy. There are a million things to juggle everyday and if I'm relying on someone else and you're relying on my, reminders are how we're going to get the job done.
