This method serves as a strategy for enhancing team collaboration by reflecting on successful strategies, areas needing development, and prevailing thoughts among team members. Why do it? For effective team reflection, creating an environment where members can openly critique and evaluate themselves is crucial, emphasizing the need for a strong sense of psychological safety within the team. What is it? Evaluate your options based on two distinct criteria to pinpoint the most critical ones to concentrate on at the moment. Why do it? This approach helps the team develop a common understanding and consensus, making it easier to decide the best course of action moving forward. When to do it? This situation arises when a team needs to prioritize tasks amidst diverse viewpoints on what to tackle first. It's about choosing key areas to focus on from a range of possibilities, despite differing opinions on the direction to take. But as someone with some unique views on money, food, politics and technology, I find it be a wonderful place to learn about other people and empathize with them.
This is the critical quality I look for in a PM worth their salt. Will they set aside their ego and biases and go learn about, understand and feel with their potential users. As someone frugal til the end of the earth, I HAVE to wade into channels of people buying luxury cars on mediocre salaries to understand their mentality and the context around the problems they face. I can't simply put my foot down and say - that is a bad decision, you made the wrong decision. And this extends to every user in every context dealing with every problem. You don't deserve your users attention, you need to earn it. You need to feel what they feel and in some cases hurt the way they hurt. |
